What is the difference between the 3-piece and the butterfly style?
The 3-piece razor and the Butterfly razor both shave the same way. The difference is in how you load the blade. To load the blade in a 3-Piece razor you unscrew the handle from 2 blade holding plates, sandwich the blade between these plates, and then screw the handle back in so that the blade is secure. With the Butterfly style, you simply twist the bottom of the razor handle to open and close 2 blade holding wings that open and close to secure the blade.
Are the razors for men or women?
Our razors are for both men and women, and all shaving needs. We like to go out of our way to point this out, so if you’re interested check out this essay we wrote about why women should try it too:
Whoever you are, don’t be intimidated and give it a try today!
Do you accept returns?
Due to the sanitary nature of our product, we do not accept any returns or issue refunds. However, if you have any issues with your product, please contact us through this form.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping within the US costs $5.99. International shipping is $15.99. All our prices are in USD. We are not responsible for any customs fees that your country may impose.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Once we’ve received your order, please allow 2 - 5 days for processing and 2 - 5 days to ship. Shipping to most destinations within the US will take 2 to 3 business days. Delivery time for international orders is highly dependent on the customs processing time. We have no control over USPS service or customs processing.
I haven’t received my package. What is up with that?
We are not responsible for any packages lost by the postal service or missed packages that are marked as Delivered but can’t be found by the customer. A claim can be filed for the item to the postal service. However, if the carrier does not approve the claim, the content of the order will not be replaced. If packages are returned to us, we can re-send them at the expense of the customer.
If you’re package is marked “In Transit” for an extended time, we can initiate an inquiry to USPS to attempt to locate your order. However, Albatross Designs does not have any control over USPS service and cannot be held responsible for USPS delays or missteps. If a package is marked “Delivered” there is little we can do to locate it from our end, and as an official policy, do not reimburse as a lost package. For this reason, please ship to a safe delivery address.
Does your shipping or packaging include plastic?
Our packaging is plastic-free!
How do I take care of my Albatross safety razor?
Like any good tool, taking care of it will make it last longer. You should rinse all the soap/ hair/ gunk/ etc. from your razor after each use. Then shake it dry. Ideally you will store it somewhere dry, at very least not in a puddle of water in your shower’s soap dish! If you ever notice corrosion or rust starting to develop you can generally rub that spot vigorously with a terry cloth towel, or if a more aggressive approach is needed, use a small piece of emery cloth.
Drying the blades themselves with a towel will contribute to much quicker blade dullness.
My razor broke. Is there anything you can do?
Yes! Please fill out this form (including a picture), or email us at email@example.com and we will determine on a case-by-case basis if we can send you a replacement. We do not currently replace razors that broke due to falls. Please note in most cases you will need to pay shipping costs.
Do you sell wholesale?
We do! If you are interested in having Albatross razors and products in your store, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with Wholesale mentioned in the subject line.
What are your recommended tips for people shaving with a safety razor for the first time?
We invite you to watch our "How To Shave with a Safety Razor" tutorial video on YouTube here.
We usually recommend the following:
- First, make sure you are using a good lubricating shaving cream or soap. This is Critical to ensuring the blade can glide smoothly over your skin
- Hold the razor at an angle of about 30 degrees between the blade and your skin
- Do not apply much pressure or pull too hard; the weight of the razor itself is acting on the blade and that is generally sufficient for a great, close shave
- Use short strokes, especially in the beginning
- Rinse the blade often as you go
- For an excessively excellent shave, try shaving after a shower or steam bath. The heat, water, and steam help to soften the hair for an even better shave. Note, this is not necessary though
- If you need more inspiration, we recommend watching other Youtube videos.
Will other razor blades fit in my Albatross safety razor?
